5 Tips to Stay Ultra Blonde this Summer
Make your Blonde last!
Our team’s secrets for staying blonde not just this summer but all year around!!
TIP #1: AVOID CHLORINE
I
If Chlorine from pools can be avoided this summer then you are already on top of your blonding care, however if you are still looking forward to a pool day in the sun, then you should definitely be using a UV protectant spray or oil! Another great step to take is wetting your hair before you get into the pool with a water bottle or shower, this just helps the Chlorine not be absorbed so easily into the hair. If caution around Chlorine is not used then expect your toner to fade a lot faster, or have hair turn green or yellow!
TIP #2: WASH YOUR HAIR LESS
Washing your hair everyday can lead to colour fading out faster then it should, and can also cause hair to become brittle and dry. We suggest you wash your hair no more than 2-3 days of the week, and use as much cold water as possible! Hot water opens up the hairs cuticle which allows blondes to fade and turn brassy, however cold water seals the cuticle, which will help to preserve color while adding softness and shine!
TIP #3: INVEST IN A PURPLE SHAMPOO
If you notice your blonde is going brassy, alternate your shampoo every other day with a purple shampoo or use it at least once a week, this will help with hair colour-correction. Hair dye consists of red, yellow and blue pigments. The smaller blue particles leave the hair cuticle first, which is why dyed blonde starts to look a bit orange. Violet or purple pigments compensate, so use purple shampoo a few times a week along with your regular products to help nourish and hydrate your hair.
TIP #4: FILTER OUT HARD WATER
Where you live can determine the level of minerals, chlorine, fluorides, and iron content in the water. This can contribute to how quickly your blonde hair turns brassy. Investing in a good shower head filter can help neutralize the flow of these elements that will in turn, cause less damage to your blonde hair. While not hazardous to your physical health, hard water can wreak havoc on your hair and is notorious for dulling blonde locks!
TIP #5: AVOID OVERUSING HEAT TOOLS
Take a break from heat styling whenever possible, as a heavy reliance on heat tools can drastically shorten the lifespan of your blonde hair. When you do start up the blow dryer, flat iron, or curling wand, always prep your hair with a heat styling spray! Blow dry on a cool setting (unless your hair is extremely coarse or thick, there's rarely a reason to use maximum heat) and make sure your dryer or wand is constantly on the move—concentrated heat on a specific spot can do major damage. There’s tons of products out there that can give you the styling you would like without having to use any heat, whether it’s sleek and shiney or, voluminous curls we have products that can do it all!
